GROWTH PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE WITH A COMPLEX RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD

These growth programs can be the missing link to step out of the spiral of eating and/or fasting and/or overeating and/or compensating. After 15 years of growth courses and programs, we see changes in participants in self-esteem, self-confidence, deeper insight, motivation, the role of movement, respecting boundaries, holding concentration, and emotions that colour your life every day.

For the past 4 years we have also been running Saltare growth programs for young people with a difficult relationship with food, out of a need that has only become more pressing since covid.

This project is realised with the support of Jez, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation.

Our Saltare offer 2026

The whole offer is a collaboration of Saltare vzw, ANBN & Outward Bound Belgium™

GROWTH PROGRAM FOR ADULTS WITH A COMPLEX RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD

The growth program consists of:

an intensive five-day program on our course estate in Anhée (10 - 14 August ‘26)

a period in which participants get to work at home with the insights and experiences they have lived through (August - September)

a follow-up day (27 September) in Leuven.

The focus of this program is on exploring the experience during adventurous activities and living together, including the shared mealtimes. We start from a generally recognised principle for the treatment of eating problems, namely ‘eating behaviour as a symptom of an underlying issue’. By actively working on the deeper-lying processes, ‘something’ can also change on the surface.

Every participant sets their own limits. At every activity, the group and the participant are asked whether they want to take on the challenge. You can say STOP at any moment. Sufficient attention will also be given to the mealtimes, which are guided by a dietitian. The number of participants is limited to twelve per group, so that everyone can get time and attention. At the end of the five days you decide, based on your experiences, what you want to tackle in your daily life. Six weeks later a follow-up weekend takes place.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Adult women and men who want to bring movement into their difficult relationship with food and what ‘feeds’ that relationship. You do not need to be a top athlete for this program: a basic fitness level at which you can easily and are allowed to walk 5 km is enough.

GROWTH PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITH A COMPLEX RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD

The growth program consists of:

an intensive five-day program on our course estate in Anhée (6-10 April 2026)
The focus of this program is on exploring the experience during adventurous activities and living together, including the shared mealtimes. We start from a generally recognised principle for the treatment of eating problems, namely ‘eating behaviour as a symptom of an underlying issue’. By actively working on the deeper-lying processes, ‘something’ can also change on the surface.
Every participant sets their own limits. At every activity, the group and the participant are asked whether they want to take on the challenge. You can say STOP at any moment. Sufficient attention will also be given to the mealtimes. The number of participants is limited to ten per group, so that everyone can get time and attention. At the end of the five days we look ahead: based on your experiences, what do you want to tackle in your daily life?
We come back to this and work on it during the follow-up day.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Young people between 16 and 20 who want to bring movement into their difficult relationship with food.
-> Do you feel there is more behind that search? ... and are you ready to discover what truly nourishes you, physically, socially and mentally?

+ Do you recognise yourself in the following:

You want to recover, even though it feels scary, and you are willing to look for what you need to stand more firmly in life.

You are open to group moments and shared meals (vegetarian or vegan is possible).

Do you follow a personal meal plan? Then you take responsibility for this yourself. You can ask our dietitian for support if that is helpful.

You don't need to be a top athlete — a basic fitness level at which you can easily and are allowed to walk 5 km is enough.

Your BMI is at least 16

You have no acute suicidal thoughts.

You are not actively self-harming.
